As if December isn't noisy enough to begin with -- I chose to have our science focus be the study of sound. We explored how sound traveled through air, water, and even yarn! We used a slinky to model how sound waves travel through air. As a team, we worked to act out how our ears work to collect sounds. We took turns role-playing all of the different parts of the ear. Most importantly we focused on how sounds are made three different ways: blowing, plucking & striking. To help us deepen our understanding of this idea, each 2J student was given the challenge to create an instrument. The instruments were presented to the class and then displayed. We had a great time on presentation day and even managed to play our own version of "Jingle Bells"! Take a look at how talented we are -- and be thankful there is no sound with this website!
